I liked this one, but I usually like Robyn Donald's books anyway. One star off because of the H's idiotic reasoning when the h was 18. It was OK for him to start in on an affair with the OW, Mari, but the h was the one he really loved and he had to put her off so that he didn't become obsessive like his father. So he can go off and f^ck someone else who he doesn't love, and in fact years later, is going to marry her, but he can't let himself get with the woman he really loves. Sorry but I can BS on that one.Other than that, the OW isn't too terribly mean but she is conniving. And the h gets hurt, physically, as a result. So I wasn't too impressed by the OW or the housekeeper, who went along with the OW's scheming.
So the normal self-deluded H, the scheming OW, and a h who is completely misunderstood and verbally abused by the H. Pretty normal fare from Ms. Donald :-)
