His gift is dark desire…

Nearly a century ago, Felix Leblanc made a deal with the demon of greed. Now he’s the most celebrated and powerful voodoo priest in New Orleans, able to enchant anything he wishes from wealthy, beautiful women. Until one client, beautiful and dangerous, brings his reign to a disastrous end, condemning Felix to servitude and a loveless eternity of never being wanted for himself.

In modern-day New Orleans, Heiress Regan Henry knows that passion can be an illusion, and she keeps her emotions in check, until she falls under the spell of the beguiling Felix LeBlanc. He knows that the rumors that her mansion is haunted are true, and that he’s the only one who can save her from the spirits residing there. But the only way he can do it is to sacrifice his last chance at redemption- or risk a love that could consign them both to an eternity of evil.

This paranormal romance is book three in the Deadly Sins series, originally published in 2010. The first books in the series are MY IMMORTAL and FALLEN. Reissued with new covers, watch for the much-anticipated book four in the series in late 2016!

The Taking Deadly Sins Book 3 eBook Erin McCarthy

The Taking by Erin McCarthy is another powerful story in the deadly sins series.

Heiress Regan Henry Alcott is tired of felling unloved in her perfect marriage. She meets a compelling man who is a voodoo priest at a holiday party. Something else happens that night, Regan got the courage to leave her husband. Now its three months later and she has bought the house that has intrigued her for years. But it seems her new home is haunted and slowly taken over her life.

Felix LeBlanc made a deal with a demon over a lifetime ago, this deal was to help his mother and himself. He enjoyed the good life until tragedy struck a young woman that he cared deeply about. Felix life changed completely after that night. He never gave his heart to anyone again. When Regan contacts him to do readings at her latest charity function. He is drawn to her world and her quiet ways.

Regan turns to Felix for help with the strange things that are happening at her home. These things she can't understand nor can she explain them. Seems the house has a tragic past and Felix is the one person that can save Regan from its reach.

The Taking is spellbinding. Both the past and the present stories are intriguing and seamlessly woven together. Both Felix and Regan's worlds are formed by their past and guide their futures. Their connection is deep and powerful. This book still haunts me weeks after reading it. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

The Taking Deadly Sins Book 3 eBook Erin McCarthy Reviews

In New Orleans, during the 1800s, a young Felix Leblanc makes a deal with a demon of greed to better life for himself and his mother. In doing so, Felix becomes an immortal as well and a bound servant to the demon until the end of time. Felix is a powerful voodoo practitioner and must use his talents for whatever his master demands.

In the present date of New Orleans, the heiress named Regan Henry finds the courage to leave her mean husband, Beau Alcroft, right after attending a Christmas party. Felix's card reading helped Regan to make the decision she has been contemplating for quite some time. Regan buys a large house and locates an old journal by Camille Comeaux. Unknown to Regan, Camille had been a nineteenth-century client of Felix's. Camille's ghost haunts Regan's house and is more than just a bit dangerous.

Regan is beset on all sides. Beau is trying to win her back. Her parents are trying to convince her to return to Beau. Regan and Felix are becoming close as they attempt to deal with Camille's ghost. And more is going on than Regan could ever believe possible. Regan soon finds her very life, if not her soul, is in jeopardy.

*** THREE STARS! Ghosts, demons, voodoo, and hot bedroom scenes make up this Louisiana story. Camille's past is revealed bit-by-bit, mainly in Regan's vivid dreams, throughout the book. In my opinion, it is no different than flashbacks and the continuous jumping of time lines became irritating after awhile. I found this story to be intriguing, but it is not the author's best work. ***

In the 1800s, Felix Leblanc makes a deal with a greed demon and gets what he covets the most immortality, wealth, and the interest of the rich and beautiful women of New Orleans. His hedonistic existence crashes down around him when one of his clients comes to a bad end. Felix puts his greed behind him, but his deal with the demon can't be so easily revoked.

Now, in present day New Orleans, Felix is a voodoo practitioner, and a successful one at that. But what used to bring him joy now just marks time. That is, until Regan Henry crosses his path. Regan is newly free of a horrible husband and has bought herself a mansion that holds more history than one would expect. The mansion is haunted and holds more danger to Regan than she knows. It's up to Felix to free Regan from the forces of evil which threaten to overtake her, and to do so he'll have to risk everything, even his burgeoning relationship with Regan.

New Orleans is the perfect backdrop for this haunting tale of ghosts, voodoo, demons, and more. Erin McCarthy beautifully sets up the past versus present, greed versus love, and evil versus good in this fascinating tale. The Taking features two charming protagonists who have to take charge of their lives in order to overcome the obstacles that face them. I truly liked Felix and Regan and wanted them to be together, to overcome the odds stacked against them. Their love story was very much central to The Taking, but what intrigued me more was the supernatural world mixed in with modern day New Orleans. Ms. McCarthy made the world of The Taking come alive for me; parts of the story drew me in so that I felt I was really there with Regan and Felix. That, more than the romance, made The Taking memorable to me.

The Taking is the third in Ms. McCarthy's Deadly Sins series, but as I have not yet read My Immortal or Fallen, I can safely say The Taking stands on its own. Though the protagonists from the first two Deadly Sins books didn't appear in this story, I will definitely be going back to read them because the world Ms. McCarthy has created in the Deadly Sins series is fresh, original and not to be missed!

Contemporary paranormal with unprotected sex. #3 in the series, but it's totally stand alone.

This was a really good paranormal set in New Orleans. Others have gone through the story. Better than I could probably. I enjoyed it! EM at her best.
